meet pauline

My career started out with an education degree (2001) enabling me to work with adolescents in school settings. I soon felt the draw away from curriculum and lesson plans, towards a role that allowed me to work alongside people in their desired area of growth. This felt like work that I could bring my whole self to; supporting people in doing work that I would call sacred and central to living a full life.

The more people I meet and the more healing and growth I witness (sometimes slow and subtle, sometimes dramatic), I am continually awed by how much innate potential and possibility we hold. The moment you are in isn’t the final one. The version of yourself you are currently experiencing isn’t the last one. And the journey towards health and wholeness isn’t meant to be done alone - we are wired for connection. So when you are ready, reach out and I’d be happy to connect with you. There is hope for all of us - I really believe this.

a bit about me

I’m so grateful to have always lived on BC’s west coast. Currently, I live in Chilliwack with my husband and kids and, while life can be very busy, we try to find some balance and love when we can sneak away to the Sunshine Coast. Life seems to slow down here, and it’s our favourite spot. Since moving to the Fraser Valley in my 20’s, the community has grown and changed a lot. I find myself appreciating the expanding diversity, and am hopeful about our community growing in an intentional, generous and creative way. I hope to be a part of a community that leads with heart, and values health and wellbeing for all people.

my goal

To support you to grow in resilience and to be the most whole and healthy version of yourself by:

being with you in your experience, providing a safe, supportive place to attend to whatever arises—we heal best in connection with others.

helping you experience an increased sense of calm and connection internally as well as in your relationships around you.

leading with curiosity and compassion, believing in your ability to access the innate wisdom that can feel elusive when stuck in distress or old patterns of coping and distraction

“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.”

—Carl Rogers

my approach

The experience of safety and connection provides the foundation for healing and growth, so the first steps of our time together is in part about building our therapeutic relationship. I want you to feel like we are a good fit to work together and to be able to make decisions about what your goals and priorities are.

I strive to show up as my authentic self and I want you to be able to do the same. I value creating space for the diversity of all my clients and affirm the worth, dignity and value of all individuals. If you feel unsettled or unsure about anything, let’s talk about it. These conversations are a really valuable part of the process -they can provide clarity, build trust, and help guide our work together.

We are multi-faceted beings—mental, emotional, physical, spiritual and relational. So when we talk about wholeness and healing, it is valuable to consider how each of these plays a role and is impacted in our lived experience. The overarching way I approach our therapy work is experiential. We don’t just talk, analyze and strategize; we use present emotions, experiences, and our therapeutic relationship to increase self-awareness and allow for new ways of responding to ourself and others. Self-compassion is an integral piece of this work as we seek to shift from patterns that no longer serve us. This approach supports choice and change that can more closely align with our values and the core of who we are. I firmly believe that the core of who we are is good; it is innately woven into the fibres of our being.

training

therapeutic modalities

I have training in a variety of therapy modalities, but just as I encourage my clients to notice what resonates and is most congruent for them, I have found that some therapeutic modalities are a better fit for the way I support the folks I work alongside. My approach is collaborative and anchored with a trauma and attachment-informed lens; it is influenced by interpersonal neurobiology and polyvagal theory which helps us attend to the way our bodies hold our experiences and can help us heal.

IFS and AEDP

I have training in, and draw primarily from, Internal Family Systems and Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy. These value the integration of emotion, somatic and mindfully-based interventions.

committed to growth

I take part in ongoing clinical supervision and training and have a commitment to keep learning and staying informed through current research about the ways we heal and can experience growth and a sense of wholeness. In addition to IFS and AEDP, I also have training in EMDR, Emotion Focused Family Therapy, Fisher’s Trauma Model, Gottman Couples Method, Neuroscience and Satir in the Sand tray, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy
